INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION AGAINST DRUG TRAFFICKING AND DRUG ABUSE (IADTDA) is a non-governmental not-for-profit international organization. It was found in 1990. The Association's Headquarter for the ex-USSR is located in Moscow, and this fact has its reasonable understanding—drug traffic recorded significant growth on the territory of the former Soviet Union over the last few years. It was registered in Bulgaria in March 1999 by the present director, Roumen Boyadjiev, and opened its Central Office in Sofia for the Balkan region.

The spiral of development of IADTDA's unique full-cycle Recreation and Rehabilitation Program range over a special section for prevention of drug abuse. All this began from the goals laid out in the Association's By-laws, as follows:

 Prevention of drug abuse, development of plenty of enterprises against spreading of drug abuse.

 Set up of network recovery and rehabilitation centers and consulting offices, and an Operative Center for coordi- nation.

 Specific research in the field of prevention and treatment, development of international and regional programs for fight against drug trafficking.

IADTDA holds a special status to the UN Economic and Social Council. It enjoys the membership of the following organi- zations (go on-mouse-over the small spiral icons below):

  Associate member of the UN (Public Information Department)

  Member of the Vienna Committee of Non-governmental Anti Drug Organizations, UN;

  Member of the International Council on Alcoholism and Addictions in Lausanne, Switzerland;

  Member of the International Non-governmental Organizations for Prevention of Drug Abuse in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Since May 1997 IADTDA has been given observer's status at the General Secretariat of the International Criminal Police Organization INTERPOL.

Numerous of legal entities and individuals from more than fifty countries became  associate or regular members of IADTDA. It has its own agencies and representatives at the headquarters of the UN in New York and UNESCO in Paris.

At the First World Congress of Anti-drug Forces, held in June 1999 in Moscow, IADTDA was acknowledged as the Chief Coordinator of non-governmental organizations on the issues of drug abuse and drug trafficking.

The IADTDA's activities are constituted under the documents of the UN, the EU, the international law and the Association's By-laws.

The Association in close cooperation and with the support of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church  set up the Order of St. Martyr Triphon. The order is awarded to governmental leaders and important public persons, clergymen, corporations, associations and medical institutions for their considerable contribution in the war against drug addiction, alcoholism and other adverse phenomena. You may meet among the names of the outstanding bearers INTERPOL the Honorary Secretary-General  Mr. Raymond Kendal, the ex-minister of the Russian Government Mrs. Ela Pamfilova, Army-General congressman Andrey Nikolaev, Singaporean Minister Bey Lian Pek, Mr. Michele Bouchet, Chief of the Paris Anti-drug Brigade, etc.
